If you’re like a lot of people with wide feet, finding shoes that actually fit—and are comfortable—has probably been a lifelong struggle. So when you discovered barefoot shoes and thought, finally, the answer to my prayers! …you may have gotten some mixed results depending on the brands you tried.
Yes, barefoot shoes have anatomical toe boxes that are wider than conventional shoes and don’t have that same tapered shape. But barefoot shoes still come in a range of widths, from narrow all the way to extra wide, with most falling somewhere around a medium width.
So if you have really wide feet, you still need to know which brands and styles actually have the space you need.

Extra Wide Barefoot Sneakers

Ohne Project introduced a wide-fitting version of their sneakers in Spring 2026, so if you’ve been wishing their cool retro styles came in a roomier fit, your wish has been granted. The 080 and 089 now come in a true wide width. The EU 36 starts at 9.5 cm wide and scales up to 11.2 cm in an EU 46, making these some of the widest barefoot sneakers on the market. That’s about 0.6 cm wider than their regular barefoot fit.

Wyde Footwear, as noted by its name, specializing in extra wide barefoot shoes. Wyde currently offers several sneaker styles with leather or cotton canvas uppers. They also have an extra-wide fitting sandal. All of their shoes have a more cushioned feel than many barefoot shoes, with a 10mm sole plus a thicker insole, so the cushioning is noticeable if you’re used to thinner barefoot shoes. I found the sizing accurate to their size chart and went with an EU 39 in the sneakers, one size up from my usual EU 38.

Dada makes some of the widest sneakers I’ve tried, with the Soho, Shibuya, and Takumi all built on the same extra-wide outsole. In an EU 37, the outsole measures about 11 cm across and the insole about 9.6 cm, making these exceptionally roomy for their size. The chunky Oromo is also very wide, although it doesn’t feel quite as roomy as the Soho.

Bohempia makes barefoot versions of some popular sneaker styles using hemp vegan uppers. While their regular barefoot line is already pretty wide and high volume (pictured above), they also have a wide barefoot fit that’s even wider. The wide sizes start at a width of 10cm in EU36 and go up to 11.6cm for size EU47.

While Groundies regular barefoot line tends to be on the slimmer side, the Barefoot+ line is a great option if you need extra-wide barefoot shoes. The Barefoot+ styles have an outsole that’s about 1 cm wider than Groundies’ regular barefoot fit. Extra Wide Barefoot Sandals

If you love the look of Birkenstock sandals, the Wyde Maia are a similar style but with a much more flexible, extra-wide footbed. The thick leather straps feel high quality, and I found them comfortable right out of the box with very little break-in time. The cork footbed is completely flat and topped with a layer of soft foam, giving these more cushioning than most barefoot sandals. They have a total stack height of 14.6 mm.

I’m all about a versatile sandals, and I love that Shammas are some comfortable and most versatile sandals I own. With a simple strap between the toe and a wide footbed or a toe loop style, you end up with a lot of toe space. I personally love the leather footbed option. They also offer customizations.

The Calla is a dressier barefoot sandal with shimmery straps in white and rose gold that start at around 10cm in width, even for the smaller sizes. The sole is very thin and flexible, which has resulted the front catching a few times, which unfortunately tears up the soft leather, so these ones are better for more delicate wear.

Mukishoes has a few different sandal styles, all of which are very adjustable with soft leather or suede and well-suited to wide toe extra wide feet. They have a cute toe-loop style and a Birkenstock dupe.

Softstar’s shoes come in several different widths and shapes, with their Primal and wide styles a great option for extra wide feet, like these Dahlia sandal. They also have a style similar to a classic Birkenstock.
Final Thoughts
Finding shoes that fit extra wide feet can feel like a never-ending search, and while barefoot shoes are often a better starting point than conventional footwear, not all barefoot brands are created equal. The good news is that there are now more truly wide options than ever before, whether you’re looking for sneakers, sandals, boots, dress shoes, or something for exercise.
