Be Lenka Barefoot Shoes Brand Review (Updated 2026)
After wearing this brand for years, I’m sharing some of our favorite styles in this Be Lenka barefoot shoes review.
Be Lenka is one of the more established barefoot shoe brands, with a huge selection of styles ranging from sneakers and sandals to loafers, hiking shoes, winter boots, and kids’ shoes.
As the brand has expanded, they’ve also added more variation in foot shape, fit, and sole thickness. That means it’s harder to say exactly who Be Lenka is best for, since the fit can vary quite a bit depending on the style. In general, though, Be Lenka tends to work well for medium to wide feet, and most of their styles stay fairly true to the barefoot philosophy of thinner, flexible soles. If you’re looking for something chunkier, their sister brand Barebarics is worth checking out.
Be Lenka is based in Slovakia, with shoes made in Europe and Southeast Asia, including Slovakia, Portugal, and Vietnam. They use a mix of leather, suede, mesh, and other materials, and I’ve generally been impressed with both the fit and quality.
Overall, Be Lenka is a great brand to check out if you want foot-shaped shoes with a lot of different styles to choose from. There’s a good chance you’ll find something that fits your wardrobe—and your feet—but it’s worth looking at the details of each style rather than assuming they all fit the same.

The Summer sandals are updated for 2026 with a little more padding and new faux leather. They’re fully adjustable on both the toe straps and the ankle straps, and are perfect for dressing up or keeping things casual.

These barefoot ballet flats keep things simple and neutral for a versatile dress shoe. The uppers are nubuck leather, and the insole includes about 3mm of soft foam. These are best suited to narrow and medium width and lower volume.

These mesh sneakers are built for a workout in the gym, but I’ve been loving them as casual summer sneakers too. Like most of Be Lenka’s sneakers, these have plenty of room for my medium width feet (typically fit up to wide) and have good ground feel.

Even barefoot hiking shoes can start getting clunky, so this lightweight, stripped back style is great for easy trails. They’re breathable, and still have good traction from the lugged sole. I found these to run a little bit narrower than some other sneakers, like the Velocity.

Now let’s dive into some deeper reviews of some of the most popular styles from BeLena.
Be Lenka Barefoot Sandals
Price: From $89 Stack height: 4mm outsole | Materials: Leather, Faux Leather | Best For: narrow to medium width, low to average volume
BeLenka is a great place to start for a stylish barefoot sandals. They have a lot of cute designs with a thin, flexible sole and leather straps. Most of the sandal straps are adjustable in some way too, either with buckles or velcro.
In 2026, most of BeLenka’s sandals got an update. While most were previously made with leather, the newer styles are mostly using faux leather. They still look and feel nice, and it’s made the price point a little more affordable too. As part of the refresh, they also added a little more padding to the sole with a few millimeters of EVA foam. I wouldn’t call these super cushioned, but it’s nice to have a touch of softness. Overall, I’m happy with the updates.
Some of my most worn BeLenka sandals are the Promenade, a thong-style sandal that can fit a lot of different shaped feet. I personally like the sand as it’s a versatile nude color that goes with everything. For an over-the-toes sandal, I really like the Summer style as these front straps are adjustable with velcro.
The soles for all of BeLenka’s barefoot sandals are 4mm. They’re thin, but firm enough that the front doesn’t catch.
Fit and Sizing: BeLenka’s womens sandals fit narrow to medium width feet best. Due to the adjustable straps, they tend to fit a wide range of volume. I wear an EU37 in all of my BeLenka sandals based on my 23.3cm foot measurement. For comparison, I wear an EU38 in their sneakers and an EU39 in most of their boots.
I measured the soles, and they line up to the size chart with a length of 24.4cm. It’s long enough that I don’t have any overhang on the heel or toes, and not too long that I’ve had issues with the front catching.
Be Lenka Viva Horsebit Loafers
EU36 – 43 | $140
BeLenka offers several loafer styles, though they list them as moccasins on their website. My personal favorite is the Viva, thanks to its minimal sole and the horsebit detail, which give it a more elevated, polished look.
While BeLenka is generally known for their wider fit, the Viva runs noticeably narrower. The Bianca and Rosaluna use this same sole, so they’ll fit similarly. The Viva is still foot-shaped, but if you have very wide feet, you may prefer one of BeLenka’s truly wide loafers, like the Buena or Aphrodite.
These loafers have a thin, flexible sole with very little cupping, so they feel and move much like a traditional barefoot shoe (especially compared to some of the others on this list that are going for the chunky look). The uppers are made from soft nappa leather, and small elastic panels on the tongue make them easy to slip on and off.
Fit & Sizing: I’m wearing an EU38, which is my usual size in BeLenka sneakers. The Viva comes with a removable insole, and I find them comfortable with the insole in place. If you have higher-volume feet, you can remove it for extra space.
BeLenka Trailwalkers

For a hiking shoe that keeps you close to the ground with minimal cushion, try the BeLenka Trailwalkers. These have a thin 4mm sole with more of a textured sole vs lugs, so they’re best for paths where you don’t need a lot of cushion or protection.
The BeLenka Trailwalkers are a bit unique in that they have a full suede upper (it’s so soft!). While many are looking for more breathable mesh, a less porous upper can be handy when you’re hiking through the desert and there is a lot of dust and sand. The Trailwalkers keep the dirt out, but are still very lightweight.
To add protection, a rubber bumper comes up and around the toes, which also provides a lot of volume in the toe box.
Fit & Sizing: These run a little short. I typically wear an EU38 in most BeLenka shoes, but these are a better fit in an EU39.
Be Lenka Winter Boots

Be Lenka has one of the most extensive collections of barefoot winter boots and continues to add more. If warmth is your priority, opt for the wool-lined Winter Boots 2.0 or the sheepskin lined Polaris slip-on boots. There are several lace-up boots that don’t feature an additional lining, so they’re best for mild to moderate winters (like the Nevada and Ranger). Be Lenka also has a snow boot for women.
Be Lenka’s boots are more structured, so they can feel on the bulkier and stiffer end of the barefoot shoes spectrum. Most of the soles have a deeper lug pattern which is good for slippery conditions.
Fit & Sizing: After some trial and error, I generally recommend people size up in Be Lenka’s winter boots. I have plenty of space in my Be Lenka EU38 sneakers but find the boots running a little shorter. This is especially true for models like the fully lined Winter Boots 2.0. The boots are wide and roomy overall, so they’re a great option for wider, higher volume feet. Most BeLenka boots are unisex, but there are some women’s specific styles.

BeLenka’s barefoot kids line is a rainbow of brightly colored, casual velcro styles with leather uppers. If your child is bored with the more standard muted colors, scroll through the BeLenka kid’s shoes to see pops of red, pink, and mango. They more recently added a mesh slip-on and the rugged and sporty Xplorer with elastic laces and a more durable rubber sole. BeLenka’s shoes can be on the more expensive end, but they do occasionally offer sales with 20 to 30% off.
The soles on most of BeLenka’s barefoot shoes for kids are 6mm. The flexibility is decent, though I do find them stiffer compared to many of the other barefoot shoe brands.
BeLenka shoes feel well made with high quality materials. Many of the kid’s shoes are leather and nubuck leather, which have held up well to outdoor play. A few of the newer styles, like the Xplorer and the Seasider both use a high-quality TR rubber made to be both flexible and durable. So far we’ve had a great experience with this.
BeLenka Kids Winter Boots

BeLenka has long been one of the strongest brands for barefoot winter boots, for both kids and adults. They offer several waterproof and warm-lined options, often using natural materials like merino wool. Their Winter Kids boots are a great everyday pick for cold weather—a classic leather lace-up with a water-repellent membrane and cozy merino lining. They also maintain the flexibility and foot-shaped feel you expect from a true barefoot shoe, which is why we like them for daily wear.
